About Search Darjeeling | Local Guide to Darjeeling Hills & Sikkim

Welcome to Search Darjeeling, a local blog about Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong and Sikkim.

We write about the hills the way local people know them: the real places, the food we eat, the festivals we celebrate and the stories we grew up with. If you are planning a trip, looking for a homestay, or just curious about life in the hills, this website is for you.

Who Is Behind Search Darjeeling?

Search Darjeeling was started by Sandeep Khati, a website designer and developer from Darjeeling. He was born and raised in the hills, and the blog comes from his love for his hometown and his wish to share its true side with the world.

Many travel websites copy the same information from each other, and a lot of it is outdated or too general. Sandeep wanted to create something different: a website written by someone who lives here, knows the roads, the seasons, the people and the small details that visitors usually miss.

  • Based in: Darjeeling, West Bengal, India
  • Background: Local resident, website designer and developer
  • Focus: Travel and culture of the Darjeeling hills, Kurseong, Kalimpong and Sikkim
