Eligibility Criteria


1. Age Limit (as of March 3, 2025):

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwD: 10 years

2. Educational Qualification


  • Candidates must have passed the 10th standard with Mathematics and English from a recognized board.
  • Knowledge of the local language up to the 10th standard is mandatory.
  • Special Provision for Arunachal Pradesh: Candidates must have studied English or Hindi along with a tribal dialect.

3. Other Requirements


  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle.

Job Profiles


1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)


  • Responsible for the smooth functioning of the Branch Post Office.
  • Handles financial transactions and services for India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
  • Required to arrange accommodation for the post office at their own cost.

2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)


  • Assists the BPM in postal operations.
  • Manages marketing and promotions of postal services.
  • Engages in doorstep mail delivery and transactions.

3. Dak Sevak


  • Handles mail delivery and transactions in Head Post Offices and Sub-Post Offices.
  • Works in sorting offices and railway mail services.
  • Assists in various postal functions as per department guidelines.


Salary and Allowances


The Gramin Dak Sevaks receive Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) with annual increments:


  • BPM: ₹12,000 – ₹29,380 per month
  • ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470 per month

Additional allowances include:


  • Dearness Allowance (DA)
  • GDS Gratuity and Service Discharge Benefit Scheme
