Darjeeling Tea Festival 2011-2012

The savory Darjeeling Tea festival  will start from 20Th of December 2011 and will last till 5Th of January 2012.The 16 days Festival will be organised by the Darjeeling Administration with the help of Regional Ruling Party Gorkha Janamukti Morcha.The last such festival was organized in the year 2000 .After that for  three consecutive years starting  from 2004, the citizens of Darjeeling had organised a memorable festival across the hills,which was named as "Darjeeling Carnival".The  famous





 music Composer and record producer Jazz artist Louis Banks and few others had performed in the carnival.The festival discontinued from the year 2007 as the 100 year old statehood agitation was renewed .

              November and December seems to a best time for organizing festival as more tourists visits Darjeeling during this season .Along with this the Administration has decided to arrange indoor and outdoor games, adventure sports, cross-country runs, mountain biking, body building competition, felicitation of celebrities, and various exhibitions besides Cultural Programs.The festival will not only be organised at Darjeeling but will be held at Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik simultaneously.

                  The festival is expected to be promising as more than 3 lakh domestic and international  tourists visit the Darjeeling hills annually.Previously the venue was Gymkhana Club but this time the organizers may change the Venue .
