Calcutta High Court Recruitment 2025 for the Post of English Translator

Notification No. 1618 -RG | Dated: 26th February 2025 - Hiring for Translator (English to Bengali) – Contractual Basis

The High Court at Calcutta invites applications from retired Judicial Officers of the West Bengal Judicial Service (WBJS) for four (04) contractual positions of Translator. The selected candidates will be responsible for translating court judgments from English to Bengali.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Requirements

1. Applicants must be retired Judicial Officers from the West Bengal Judicial Service (WBJS).
2. Must have passed Class 10 and Class 12 from a recognized Board/Council with Bengali as one of the subjects and English as another subject.
3. Must have computer proficiency, including typing skills.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 65 years (as of the date of notification).

Selection Process

• Mode of Selection: Interactive Session (Interview).
• Venue, Date, and Time of the Interactive Session will be communicated to shortlisted candidates by post.
• No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

Applications must be handwritten or typed on plain Legal Size Paper (8.5” x 14”) and include:

1. Personal Details
   • Full Name (in capital letters)
   • Father’s/Husband’s Name
   • Date of Birth
   • Date of Retirement
   • Last Posting Details (Designation & Place)
   • Present & Permanent Address (with PIN code)
   • Contact Number & Email ID
2. Educational Qualifications (Class 10 & 12 details)
3. Nationality
4. Experience (if any in translation work)
5. Signature & Date at the bottom of the application.

Documents to Attach

1. Two Passport-Sized Photographs (one pasted on the application, one stapled).
2. Self-addressed Envelope (25 cm x 11 cm) with ₹45 postal stamp affixed.
3. Self-attested Copies of:
   • Date of Birth Proof (Class 10 certificate/admit card).
   • Class 10 & 12 Mark Sheets and Certificates.
