George Mahabert Subba's Salig was unveiled by Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Gautam Deb today. 

George Mahabert Subba's salik was unveiled at Champasari

The unveiling of Subbako Salig, the first Chairman of Siliguri Municipal Corporation and the first MLA of Kharsang-Siliguri Constituency, has become a historic event in the Gorkha community.

 The unveiling was attended by George Mahabert Subba's family including his grandson Charles George Mahabert Subba, his wife Anna Jennifer George Mahabert, great-granddaughter Stephanie Ann Mahabert and others. 

 "George Mahabert Subba Salig Construction Committee" was jointly formed by more than twenty Gorkha institutions mainly from Siliguri for the construction of the Salig built in front of the Kali temple located on the Champasari-Milan mode road. 

 Its president is Ward No. 46 Councilor Dilip Barman, Secretary Gopal Seva and Treasurer Chandra Chhetri. This program was organized under the auspices of this committee.

 Before that, Champasari region was circumambulated by taking out a huge cultural pageant. After the salik unveiling and Shobha Yatra, a grand cultural program was organized in the Sri Guru Vidya Mandir school premises and entertained with various cultural programs.
