Siliguri College Admissions 2020-21
ONLINE ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2020-21 SILIGURI COLLEGE
- 1. The form fill up for admission to Siliguri College will begin on the 10th of August, 2020, 10 AM and the last date for filling up of application forms is 25th of August 2020, 11.59 p.m.
- 2. Candidates would be allowed to edit the information on their forms till the last date for filling up of application forms which is 25th of August, 2020, 11.59 pm.
- 3. The Provisional Merit List will be published on the 26th of August 2020, 8.00 p.m.
- 4. The Final Merit List will be published on the 28th of August 2020, 12 noon.
- 5. All applicants (except those applying to the BBA program) would have to apply for a Program Course (B.A. Program /B.Sc. Program) along with their preferred Honors Courses. Only those candidates who apply for a Program course along with their preferred Honors Courses would be considered eligible for admission to Honors courses. If a candidate does not apply for a Program course, he / she / transgender would not be considered for admission to Honors courses.
- 6. Initially, an Online Counselling List for various Program Courses would be published. Counselling for Honors courses would be conducted from among those candidates who get admitted into the Program Course(s) provided they have also opted for Honors Courses.
- 7. The first Counselling list for Program course students would be released on 28th of August 2020, at 8 p.m.
- 8. The first Counselling list for Honors Courses would be released on the 31st of August, 2020 at 10A.M.
- 9. All admissions to Program course and Honors course would be on the basis of the Merit Score, obtained as per the latest University guidelines.
- 10. All admission to Honors and Program Courses would be provisional. Admission would be confirmed only after physical verification of documents take place whenever the college re-opens with physical commencement of classes.
- 11. A candidate needs to upload the following documents on the admission portal –
- (a) Class X Admit Card,
- (b) Class XII Mark sheet,
- (c) School Leaving Certificate for West Bengal Board students / Migration Certificate for Other Board students,
- ( d) Caste Certificate (Candidate / Father of Candidate),
- (e) PWD Certificate (OH / VH)
- (f) Photograph of the Candidate.
- 12. Candidates need to keep in mind that the Original Caste certificate issued by the relevant / competent Authority will have to be uploaded on the admission site before the closing date of application.
- 13. Candidates are requested to upload their migration certificate on the portal when they apply. However, if Migration certificates are not available at the time of uploading documents, they will have to be uploaded latest before the closing date of University registration

GENERAL INSTRUCTION FOR THE CANDIDATES
- A student must apply for one Program Course and 3 Honors courses (maximum) during application.
- Application to Program Course is mandatory.
- (This is not applicable for BBA Course)
- Admission to Program Course is mandatory to be considered eligible for Admission to BA/BSc.
Eligibility Criteria for Siliguri College
A candidate may apply for Honors/Core Course if only following conditions are fulfilled :- 1. 55% in the aggregate or 50% in the aggregate with 60% in subject.
2. For SC/ST applicants eligibility criteria is 50% in the aggregate or 45% in the aggregate with 55% in subject.
Eligibility Criteria in General/Program course:-
1. Qualifying marks i.e. 47% marks in aggregate (For General) and 40% for SC, ST candidates The system requires the candidates to upload the scanned/digital copies of the following:
(Allowed File Types: .jpg, .png, .jpeg, .gif)
- 1. Passport Size photo
- 2. Class Xth Admit Card
- 3. Class XIIth Mark Sheet
- 4. Own or Father's Caste Certificate in case of SC, ST and OBC candidates, should be submitted before the Closing Date of Application
- 5. PWD Certificate in case VH / OH (PH) candidates or Medical Certificate wherever applicable
- 6. School Leaving certificate / Migration Certificate

Registration confirmation SMS will be sent to the mobile number & the same shall be used for all further correspondence with the applicant by the concerned authorities.

Email confirmation/notifications shall be sent to this email if provided
xi) Date of Birth:
The same shall be used as the password in the Candidate’s Log in screen Aadhar and Bank related information (not compulsory)

3) Provide communication address and permanent address :
Provide the following details of your address

- h) State i) PIN To have the same address copied to the Permanent Address fields check the option “Same as Above” Ticked/Checked.
4) Applicant’s Other Details
- iv) Select your gender
- ii) Select your blood group
- iii) Select your marital status
- iv) Select your religion
- v) Select your mother language
- vi) Select your Nationality
- vii) Select your Economic Status [APL or BPL]
i. If you are in BPL [Below Poverty Level] category you must put your BPL card number
viii) Select other specification [If you are a cadre of NSS or NCC or if you area recognized sports person, in case of sports person the institute may asked for a physical certificate issued by Govt./Renowned sports authority.]
ix) Select your Physically Challenged Status [Whether you are Physically Challenged or not]
i. If you are a Physically Challenged person then you must put your Physically Challenged certificate number for verification.
x) If you are a Residence of Tea garden then Tick on Check box, and declare the Name of Tea Garden
xi) Before you proceed next step by clicking on Submit Button, you have to tick checkbox just beside “I undertake” and confirm agreeing to the term of the admission to the institute and the online admission system.
xii) Click on “Submit” to save and proceed.
2. Registration Step 2 of 4
- i) Your last attended School
- Name from where the applicant has passed Higher Secondary (HS/10+2)
- ii) Select your Higher Secondary Board Name
- iii) Select the year of passing Higher Secondary Examination
- iv) Select your stream [Science, Arts or Commerce etc.]
- v) Your Higher Secondary Roll number
- . vi) Your Higher Secondary Registration Number
- vii) Select your category [General/Unreserved, SC, ST, OBC A or OBC B etc.]
i. If you are applying under any reserved category (i.e. other than General/Unreserved category) then mention your respective category certificate number.
viii) Select your Major Indian Language [MIL] for part III
ix) provide your higher secondary examination marks appropriately as displayed in your mark sheet
x) Select the Subject name from the list, provide the Total Marks of the Examination and then the marks Obtained by the candidate appropriately.
xi) A few subjects may be selected as mandatory subjects for the course selected.
xii) Provide your actual marks as per your mark sheet only.
DO NOT input percentage or average marks.
The system shall calculate the same as per its set criteria appropriately.
xiii) Also below put the marks of Environmental Science/Study subject in same manner above this is not mandatory and also not applied in merit calculation
3. Course & Subject Selection
a) Based on the 10+2 (HS) marks provided and the criteria set by the respective colleges & universities, the options where the candidate is eligible to apply for admission shall be populated
. b) Select your desired Course and Elective Subject preferences accordingly.
note that any modification on the 10+2 (HS) subject marks would again re validate the eligibility of the opted courses and elective subjects.
verify and select your preferences again.
Click on the “Submit” button to save.
On clicking the “Submit” button the form shall be checked for the details provided and you shall be prompted for the missing or improper compulsory field data for review and submission.
If all the details are completed properly then the registration will proceed to next step
Registration Step 3 of 4 Documents upload section
i) To upload your photo ensure that you have the soft copy of the photo already stored on your PC. Click on the “Choose File” or “Browse” button to explore your PC.
4. ii) Navigate to the appropriate location and select the appropriate image of your passport sized photo and click Open.
You may also double click on the image to select and open at once.
iii) The select window shall close and the image shall be uploaded.
The upload confirmation along with the “View” button will be visible.
Upload Documents:
follow the similar process as explained above to select the scanned copies of the required documents as mentioned for uploading.
Registration Step 4 of 4
The Step 4 of registration provides option to process the Fee payment and view/print the finalized application.
Fee Payment Options
a) Online Fee Payment option for payment through
- i. Credit Cards
- ii. Debit Cards
- iii. Net Banking
This option enables instant payment and auto payment status update for any transaction when completed properly.
b) Bank Challan
You may prefer to take a print out of the associated Bank’s challan and pay in cash in the respective bank branches.
Click on the “Print Bank Challan” button to option the printing dialog box with the appropriate bank challan.
Online Payments
- This option is most preferred for automated payment status update.
- A candidate can proceed to the online payment gateway interface by clicking on the “Pay Now” button.
- Select the desired mode of transaction from the list provided and proceed accordingly by providing the asked necessary details.
- On completion of the online transaction you shall be returned back to the online admission website for the confirmation of the same and your payment shall be verified automatically.
- A sample payment success confirmation screen is attached below.
- The same shall be mailed to you as well.
- Bank Deposits If this option is selected the details of the Bank account in a pre-formatted Bank Challan of the college shall be provided which needs to be printed and the amount may be deposited in appropriate Bank branch or any same bank network branch.
- The stamped receipt from the bank needs to be collected from the bank as confirmation.
- The candidate needs to log in back to upload the scanned copy of the stamped College Copy of the Bank challan receipt for manual verification.
- The scanned copy of the challan will be displayed at an appropriate location on successful upload and the college authorities shall be intimated via mail.
- The candidates shall receive a mail confirmation on successful verification of their uploaded bank challan by the college authorities.
- With the payment being processed the online application shall be deemed as complete and accepted for further verification and processing towards admission to the institute.
- The candidates shall be intimated through SMS or website notification about the Merit list publication and Counselling dates and further procedures.
- The Competent Authority reserves the right to cancel any application/candidature at its discretion and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained from the applicant.
- Wrong declaration /submission of false information or any other action contrary to law shall lead to cancellation of the candidature at any stage.

Siliguri College was established on October 8, 1950 and has over fifty years of educational excellence to its name. Originally established with the aim of providing refugee students quality education in the wake of independence and partition, the college has since then emerged as a premier educational institute in North Bengal.
Siliguri College is one of the oldest college in Siliguri situated in the Indian state of West Bengal. The College offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences.
It is affiliated to University of North Bengal. and accredited to University of North Bengal.
Siliguri college was established on 8 October 1950 by Government of West Bengal under a dispersal scheme of the Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department with a view to imparting higher education to the refugee student population of the post-partition of Siliguri.
Initially, after inception it was affiliated to Calcutta University. Later, in 1962, it transferred to the University of North Bengal.

Affiliation and Accreditation of Siliguri College
The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and awarded B++ grade, an accreditation that has since then expired.
The college was affiliated to University of Calcutta till 1962. Currently it is affiliated to University of North Bengal.
Siliguri College Library
The college has a library with a collection of text and reference books. Currently, it contains around 37,000 regular and out of print volumes.
Siliguri College Hostel
The college also contains two separate hostels for boys and girls. Boys hostel has a capacity of 63 students whereas newly build girls hostel can accommodate approximately 48 students.
