Biography of Gopal Singh Nepali
Renowned poet who wrote in Nepali, Hindi and Urdu.
Titled “Wordsworth of Hindustan” by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, he was
presented a Gold medal for his english translation of Tagore’s ‘Urvashi.

Gopal Singh Nepaliw born
in Bettiah, Bihar on II August 1911, Gopal Singh Nepali was a very successful writer who wrote award winning poems, novels and essays in Hindi, Nepali and Urdu.
He also edited many journals in all three languages at different times.
He was a celebrated poet and
people thronged to kavi sammelans’ where he participated to listen to his recitations. Later he moved to Bombay and became a famous lyricist for Hindi Films.
He wrote songs for hit films like Gajre, Nai rahein, Naag Panchami, Khusboo among many others.
He also edited many journals in all three languages at different times.
