RAILWAY SERVICE FROM DARJEELING TO BANGLADESH

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh have taken initiative to revamp Chilahati-Haldibari railway line after a decade .

The railway connectivity between the two countries will open several bilateral trade opportunities not only with India but Nepal and Bhutan as well.

RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN INDIA TO BANGLADESH

The Indian government will reconstruct 3 km British-era rail track that was shut down during the India-Pakistan war in 1965. The new railway connectivity will facilitate plying of passenger trains from Darjeeling via Siliguri to Bangladesh.

RAILWAY CONNECTIVITY DARJEELING VIA SILIGURI TO BANGLADESH

Presently there are three operational railway points between Bangladesh and India out of 7 . i.e; the route from Darshana in Chuadanga to Gede in West Bengal and Benapole to Petrapole and Rohanpur To Singhabad routes . Four points are still not operational.The new conceptual railway line will also help to establish the railway line.
