Darjeeling 31st July : The 3 days strike on the hills will continue from saturday.The chief executive of GTA Bimal Gurung as faxed a resignatiion letter to the Governor around 8 p.m. GJM supremo said ,“It is sad for Gorkhaland as the Telangana issue has been considered by the central government. Our issue was not even discussed by the CWC in New Delhi,” . “I am resigning from the post of chief executive of the GTA and will lead the agitation for Gorkhaland,” he added.
Thursday and Friday will be a two day relaxation of the strike Business establishments, shops will remain open. but all Government offices- State, Central, GTA and the Municipalities will remain closed. From Saturday the bandh will resume" said Binay Tamang, the assistant general secretary of the GJM adding that the future course of action would be decided on Wednesday.
For Gorkhaland I can sacrifice my life. People must be ready to sacrifice something for Gorkhaland. The Telengana issue will take 4-5 months to be formed formally. We cannot rest until we get Gorkhaland.
The next 5 months are crucial for us. We will put more pressure on the Government," said Gurung.
